The lights inside the 92-year old community hall in the village of Milden have perhaps never shone brighter, and residents are grateful for the financial assistance from Enbridge in helping to make that a reality.
Representatives were in the community on Wednesday morning, August 21 to present a ceremonial cheque to the heads of the Community Hall Executive Committee for a total of $9,600. The funds were used towards the purchase of new LED lighting in the Milden hall, which originally opened as a movie theatre back in 1927.
Dan Tischler (Area Operations Manager, far left) and Peter Dodson (Sr. Community & Indigenous Engagement Advisor, far right) presented the funds to the hall committee board, comprised of Lorraine Bell (Chair), Linda Bahr (Treasurer), Wendy Reglin (Secretary), and Marlene Hendricks (Vice-Chair).
Another rep on hand for the cheque presentation was Peter Hansen, Senior Advisor in Community Relations for Enbridge who explained the company’s partnership with MasTec Canada in helping these funds get into the hands of community leaders for needed and deserving initiatives, as well as David Coll, Enbridge Senior Communications Advisor.
Funding such as this is generated from the recycling of copper wire from Enbridge’s nearby West Milden pump station, which was reconstructed recently as part of the Line 3 Replacement Project. Overall, Enbridge raised approximately $200,000 from copper recycling from Line 3 facilities, and the company is ensuring that all of this money is being ‘pumped’ back into communities across the Prairies such as Milden.
