Dance Recital Wows Crowd in Conquest

Young dance students show off skills

The eye-popping, feet-tapping skills of a group of young dancers kept a large crowd thoroughly entertained in Conquest recently.

The students of Expressions Dance, under the tutelage of instructor Shelby Martin, hosted a year-end dance recital in the gymnasium of the former Conquest School on Sunday afternoon, May 5.  The show drew a full house that came out to see the impressive stylings from the performers, which included routines set to jazz, lyrical, tap, ballet, and even hip-hop numbers.

With a rotating number of bold costumes, coupled with the visual of some swift and snappy dance moves that were complemented by song choices that were right on the money, the performance by this supremely-skilled class drew loud applause, which was most definitely earned by the hard-working crew.

Expressions Dance attended three competitions this year, and a number of students brought home scholarships and awards from them, including from the most recent Spring Stars Dance Festival held in Saskatoon last month.  The work and the achievements of the young talents is quite an impressive feat for a dance school in a small town area.
