Town-wide Outlook Food Drive a Big Success

Food bank well-stocked in community endeavor

The town-wide food drive held on Tuesday, May 14 in Outlook that was organized by the Outlook & District Food Bank turned out to be a big success, with residents of Outlook showing their generosity and 'filling the coffers' as one would say, or in this case, stocking the shelves to ensure that those who use the services of the food bank can have a meal.

Justin Turton of the Outlook & District Food Bank emailed The Outlook with the following:

"I've attached a couple of pictures of donations after the food drive.  We are thankful for all the donations received that night.  Our current statistics are an average of 35 families utilize the services provided by the food bank, which includes an average of 40 children within those 35 families.  It is the generosity of everyone that helps those families in need.

We would also like to thank staff and students from LCBI High School, members of the Outlook Community Youth Group and a few students from OES for helping pick up the donations on the night of the food drive.

While December is the time of year with the greatest need of donations, the Outlook and District Food Bank supports families all year long.  If anyone would like to make a donation of food, it can be dropped off at the food bank in the town office complex or there are a few donation bins around town.  Financial support is always appreciated as well so that we can offer the families fresh fruits, vegetables, and other products.  We also help support children's nutrition and learning by donating healthy snacks and fruit to the Outlook Elementary School to help with children who may be hungry."

Well done, Outlook!
