Man Drowns Near Danielson Provincial Park

Another water tragedy strikes over Labour Day weekend

Another tragedy has struck in the waters of Lake Diefenbaker, this time claiming the life of a 70-year old male from Saskatoon over the Labour Day long weekend, according to RCMP.

On September 4 at 10:45 a.m. Outlook RCMP, EMS and Macrorie Fire Department responded to a complaint of a capsized boat on Lake Diefenbaker near Danielson Provincial Park in Pumphouse Bay.  Two adult males had been operating a boat when it capsized.  One adult male swam to shore and sought assistance from a nearby boater.  The second adult male was located deceased in the water.  The deceased is a 70-year-old male from Saskatoon.

The incident marks the fifth time that local river and lake waters have claimed a life this summer, as 17-year old Justin Warwaruk drowned in the South Saskatchewan River in early July, followed by two men losing their lives on Lake Diefenbaker during a major storm on July 20, and another man falling into the water of the lake on July 29, who was found deceased eight days later.
