'The Outlook' Turns 110 Years Old

Weekly newspaper dates back to the beginnings of Outlook

Well, would you look at that, we were apparently so busy last week that a huge milestone passed right by us here at The Outlook and we didn’t seem to notice!

This month marks a special ‘birthday’ of sorts for your trusted weekly newspaper, as The Outlook is now 110 years old!  That’s only a year younger than the Town of Outlook itself!

The Outlook established itself a little less than six months after the Town of Outlook was founded in 1908, with the debut edition rolling off the presses on February 6, 1909.  This effectively makes the newspaper one of the community’s oldest businesses, and through the decades that followed, The Outlook captured it all – reporting, entertaining, and informing the public of all that’s happening around them on a weekly basis.

More than a century later, we’re still here and reaching a larger audience, pairing our popular print edition by going digital with a brand-new website two years ago and establishing a growing, lively Facebook page that shares photos and video clips that have ‘gone viral’, as the saying goes.

Through it all, we hope we’ve helped give you a clear picture of what’s happening in your community and your region.  We’re nothing without our readers and advertisers, and we thank you for supporting your community newspaper in a time when fair and balanced journalism has never been more important.

You keep reading, and we’ll keep writing.  Deal?  Deal.

Thank you,
The Outlook Staff
