Ice Hawks Advance to Provincial Semi-Finals

Outlook matched against Wilkie in vital next round

The Outlook Ice Hawks have been juggling double duty for some time now, but all their hard work is continuing to pay off as the team has cinched a spot in the semi-finals of the SHA ‘B’ Provincials.

The Hawks played their way into the coveted slot by defeating the Eston Ramblers in a two-game series for total points.

The first game was played on Friday, March 1 in Eston, with Outlook taking the win at a score of 6-3.

The second game was played the following night at home in Outlook, with the Hawks once again victorious at a score of 4-2, winning both games and the overall total points with ten points to Eston’s five.

The wins put Outlook on a collision course in the semi-finals against Wilkie, who defeated LeRoy in a game series with seven goals to four.

The game schedule between the two rosters is as follows:

Game 1 – Saturday, March 9 in Wilkie
Game 2 – Saturday, March 16 in Outlook
Game 3 – Sunday, March 17 in Wilkie (if needed)

The other two teams vying for advancement in Provincials are the squads from Carnduff and Wynyard.

Back over in the SVHL playoffs, the Ice Hawks managed to pull off an incredible win when they upended the Kyle Elks on Wednesday, February 27, beating the top-ranked team at a score of 5-4 in Game 3 of a possible five-game series.

Goals scored by Kyle in that game were made by #8 Jesse Shynkaruk (2), #16 Dieter Gillanders, and #61 Brennan Bosovich.  Goals scored by Outlook were made by #43 Daniel Erlandson, #85 Ryan Husband, #21 Ty McLean, #24 Scotty Stewart, and #8 Adam Zbitniff.

Outlook and Kyle meet for Game 4 tonight, Wednesday, March 6 at the Jim Kook Rec Plex.
