Ice Hawks Tie, Win in Opening Weekend

Fierce match-up with Lucky Lake ends with no winner

It was a back-to-back double header of hockey action for the Outlook Ice Hawks last weekend, and while there were no losses recorded, it wasn’t exactly a flawless two nights on the ice.

That’s because the team’s season opener at home at the Jim Kook Rec Plex on Friday night, November 1 against the Lucky Lake Lakers ended in a frustrating tie game at two apiece.  That was the score early in the third period, and try as both rosters did, they were just so evenly matched in offense and defense that the darn puck just never found its way past either team’s goalie, not even in two five-minute overtime periods.

Goals scored by Outlook were made by #12 McKenzie McNeill and #21 Ty McLean, while goals scored by Lucky Lake were made by #19 Josh Anderson and #91 Cody Wourms.

It’ll be interesting to see what might happen in a rematch between the two as both teams will lock horns again on Friday, December 6 in Lucky Lake.

Meanwhile, the Ice Hawks were on the road after their home opener, traveling to Beechy to take on the Bombers on Saturday, November 2.  There would be no tie game on this night, however, as Outlook managed to forge ahead and keep a steady lead away from Beechy.  By the time the final buzzer sounded, the Ice Hawks were headed home with a 7-5 victory.

Goals scored by Outlook were made by #43 Daniel Erlandson, #85 Ryan Husband, #90 Steven Lee, #12 McKenzie McNeill, #14 Amory Mudrewich, #5 Jordan Pratt, and #24 Scotty Stewart.  Goals scored by Beechy were made by #22 Steve DaSilva, #12 Daylan Gatzke, #23 Alex Laird, #9 Jonathan Redlick, and #38 Wyatt Riendeau.

The Ice Hawks are back on the road this coming Friday, November 8 as they motor to Delisle to take on the Bruins.  Outlook’s next home game is Friday, November 22 as the team plays host to the Dinsmore Dynamos.
