Kraft Postpones Hockeyville Top 4 Announcement

Village of Dinsmore among many hoping to advance

It’ll be a longer wait to see which four communities across Canada will advance in the Kraft Hockeyville online voting competition.

Organizers of the contest have decided to postpone the announcement of which four cities, towns or villages will go on to the next phase of the competition in light of the growing circumstances surrounding COVID-19.

The village of Dinsmore was among those entered in the contest, one of only three communities in Saskatchewan along with Moose Jaw and Pense.

The following email was sent out regarding the postponement of the Top Four announcement:

Like you, we have been following the news about COVID-19 (Coronavirus) closely. The team at Kraft Hockeyville would like to personally extend its heartfelt concern and well-wishes to the individuals and families affected by the virus. At all times, the health and safety of our partners, colleagues and community participants is our top priority.

In light of ongoing developments resulting from the coronavirus and after consulting with medical experts, the National Hockey League (NHL) paused the 2019-20 season. The Kraft Hockeyville team, together with the NHL and the NHLPA, have collectively agreed that postponing the announcement of the Top 4 community finalists of the Kraft Hockeyville Canada 2020 program, which was planned for March 14, is the appropriate decision at this time. All previously submitted nominations and entries to Kraft Hockeyville Canada 2020 are still valid. Please be on the look out for further updates and announcements about Kraft Hockeyville Canada 2020!

We thank you for your interest in the Kraft Hockeyville program. Every year we look forward to celebrating the finalists and winners of the Kraft Hockeyville program. The dedication of participating communities remains a constant reminder that the spirit of hockey is deeply rooted in what it means to be Canadian. Canada is hockey, and hockey is community. We look forward to celebrating our Top 4 communities and crowning Kraft Hockeyville Canada 2020.
